Our Staff Training for Corporate Organisations

Presentations

Presentations are a focused and thought-provoking method of learning about issues, information and ideas in a compact forum… they can also be a lot of fun

While presentations are a focused and thought-provoking method of learning about issues, information and ideas in a compact forum they need to be both lively and mentally stimulating in order for the effect to be useful and to be maintained for a long after the presentation. These are available for in-house use and are given in public from time-to-time. The advantage of in-house presentations (other than obvious ones such as convenience) is that Chris Probets will discuss your corporate needs and tailor the presentation to fit your requirements.

Chris Probets is a presenter with a lively style, which involves getting the group to think about and discuss the issues and possibilities. He invites participation and encourages people to think through the issues, information and ideas, and therefore learn more effectively. His use of displays, and sometimes charts and handouts, results in participants processing and integrating useful information and ideas easily and effectively. People find the learning easy to integrate into their ongoing system and style and to use it in the way that suits them best. The presentations are also entertaining and thought-provoking while being nonthreatening. The presentations can be stand-alone or they can be combined with other presentations, workshops or coaching.

While presentations can be designed for you in any relevant area, the current presentations include

Growing B.O.L.D. (Balanced Overall Life Development)

Are you living a balanced life? Can you sustain success in one part of your life without balance? How secure is your tightrope?… one slip and you're gone?… or do you have a parachute? All these questions and more will be explored to assist you to develop your life in as balanced a manner as is possible.

Success is a 7-letter word — The seven criteria for success

Yes — there are only 7 criteria for successful planning and action. These have been discovered in over 30 years of research to be the combination for success in any area of your life. The research shows that using them results in at least 90% success regardless of the type of success you want! That is, the psychological and motivational process of success is the same for us all. Shouldn't you be using these criteria?

Purposeful living

Having a clearly defined purpose for each life area and the goals you have for each of these leads to greater success and satisfaction. Making these congruent so that the purpose for each life area and goal smoothly assists and potentiates each other area of your life will lead to maximum success and happiness. These ideas and issues are explored so that each participant will never see life planning and achievement in the same way again.

Going for happiness — developing emotional success

In order to live successfully people need to be able to develop all aspects of their life so that they all work effectively together. This means being aware of yours' and others' emotions and being able to utilise them effectively, that is, becoming more "emotionally effective". Understanding your emotions, their role as a normal part of life, and how emotions can help or hinder you, is the start of this process. The next step is to develop your emotions so that you develop happiness instead of simply experiencing whatever emotions come along. Is this possible? Check it out!

Creative Optimism

Research clearly shows that being optimistic will make you more successful in all areas of your life. Yet most people learn to be pessimistic; and most people think this helps them to handle life's disappointments and failures. However mountains of research has found that it also causes the disappointments and failures, therefore making handling them necessary! This occurs as people who are pessimistic don't persist in the face of difficulties and therefore fail often. Optimists tend to try harder and to cope better with failure. Learn to succeed — not cope with failure!

The psychology of money (and risk)

We all live a life that involves risk and reward. Most of us think we can reduce risk by making "safe" choices. However a lot of fascinating research has shown how we often take greater risks by trying to avoid it! We also deprive ourselves of greater reward through lack of understanding of the risk factors, how to minimise these without reducing the rewards, and the psychological factors in assessing "safety" and risk. The presentation uses a lot of quick and easy mental exercises (including checking out your level of risk aversion) that are very illuminating (and a lot of fun)!

Changing change (making it work for you)

Change is the only guarantee in life. We will all go through immense changes in our career, our community, politics and economics throughout our lifespan. Change has always been stressful and so we are all stressed by this factor alone. Change can be a problem or an opportunity — it all depends on how you handle it. There is a 6-step model of change that can help you to understand and utilise change. Make change a challenge leading to benefits, not a problem causing suffering.

Personality + Plus

We all know what personality is and what our personality is… or do we? This presentation brings understanding of the fascinating area of personality and how you can understand and utilise this to live more effectively and to understand and interact with others more effectively. Learn how an understanding of personality can lead to greater intrapersonal and interpersonal effectiveness. Learn to be a more effective version of yourself.

Workshops

Workshops are an efficient method of making focused change with a large number of people in an effective manner… they should also be enjoyable, rewarding and positive for maximum effectiveness

Workshops are an efficient, effective and economic or method of improving the functioning of a large number of staff in a short period of time. When matters that are of common concern are covered in a workshop the effectiveness is increased by the interactions between participants, the suggestions and comments by participants, and the examples set by people in the group who are willing to make constructive changes. Overall, the energy and momentum created by an experienced and energetic group leader creating effective group processes makes this form of training particularly effective.

Our workshops are designed to ensure that participants get practical assistance with implementing personalised techniques, systems and ideas to improve their performance and their ability to achieve sustained satisfaction in a stress-free manner. They all involve issues, information and ideas for change — all of which are based on the latest psychological research and practice. They make the process of planned change so much easier.

Our workshops cover a broad range of general staff training to improve workplace effectiveness and efficiency, and workshops that give specific personal development training to enable each person to function much better within themselves, and therefore improve both their workplace functioning and their out-of-work functioning. That is, both of these develop the person to a greater level of functioning. Both of these lead to a workplace and an organization that functions more smoothly and more "in sync" with management objectives.

LifePlanning

The LifePlanning Workshop is aimed at greatly accelerating human performance. It is a full day of information and ideas designed to give people all that they need to implement it. The information includes psychological research findings such as the seven critical factors found in over 30 years of research to be essential for success in any area of your life and the stages you will experience and can utilise to make changes to your life. The ideas include many practical systematic methods of implementing them along with practical steps, concepts, hints and tips for improved human performance. This is a very practical workshop that will leave the participant with their own personalised, tailor-made Life Plan designed to inspire them to greater success. They will also have developed simple action steps that are designed to direct, motivate and ensure their sustained achievement. There are also a lot of instant ideas that they can put into effect immediately to get their Life Plan started. They will also learn how to prioritize their life in order to maintain maximum life balance. This is backed by information about research into success and motivation and what really works!

The Counselling Workshop

This is a two-day comprehensive workshop to assist those key people in your organization that have an influence over the emotional well-being of staff and provide support in times of need and disciplinary counselling when required. These key people are usually managerial staff, HR professionals, supervisors, project managers etc. This workshop builds the skills and understanding of human reactions to difficult situations that will enable the participants to carry out both formal counselling and "on-the-run" informal counselling. The workshop will enhance the participants' knowledge of effective counselling skills, communication skills, methods for building rapport and trust, non-threatening questioning techniques, and will increase their confidence in difficult situations with staff.

Day 1: Skills and Strategies

Our staff and management team is a very valuable asset, and they are an asset that requires maintenance. Sometimes the employee will find themselves getting into difficulty either at work or a problem in their private life will be creating problems in the workplace. When this occurs the employee may require assistance or referral for this problem. Sometimes the employee will be creating problems for your organization and will require counselling to resolve the issue and get them back to their optional functioning. In this workshop we give participants the information, strategies and tactics along with the interpersonal skills required to handle any of these situations. These include effective listening and enquiry, empathy, communication styles, summarizing and paraphrasing, and solution-focused communication.

Day 2: Counselling for Complex Issues

Following on from the counselling workshop is the advanced counselling skills workshop. This takes the participants to a higher level by applying the skills learned in day one to specific and complex workplace problem areas. These are often scene has the most difficult areas and include grief and crisis situations, debriefing, conflict resolution, and anger management. Any other area that has been listed as an issue the group wishes to work on during day one will also be covered. Once these have been mastered most other situations found in the workplace will be relatively easy for the participants to handle.

Change by Challenge or Change by Choice?

If change is the only constant in the world, why do we so often develop inertia in the face of it? We all change constantly with or without planning to do so. We all so needed to make changes as the world changes around us. However, most people find change to be a difficult process and one to be for, not gratefully accepted. This is even more so when the change is not wanted by the person needing to change.

This workshop covers the theories of change and an updated and the exclusive new model of change and how it occurs. This model is then used to explain what forms and resistance occur at what stages in the cycle of change and how to assist yourself or others to handle those changes.

This workshop is particularly useful for all those involved in leading and directing change in the workplace. They will leave the workshop not only with a high-quality level of knowledge of how people change and how people resist change, they will also go away with strategies to assist change to happen with less stress and resistance.

Stress, Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace

Every organization will encounter problems with stress, drugs and alcohol. While these may appear to be three different problems, they are so interrelated that a single workshop can assist with a greater level of understanding than one of these areas alone. Each of these three areas impinges on efficiency, effectiveness and the cost of doing business.

This workshop can be run as a two-hour workshop, or as a four-hour workshop depending on the depth of interactive exercises required by the employees. It can be run for groups from 10 to 100 employees and it is directed towards workshop, factory floor or office employees, supervisors and managers.

The areas covered include understanding stress, sources of stress, health consequences of stress, and how to manage stress more effectively. The alcohol and drugs in the workplace section includes what is alcohol dependence and drug dependence, what are the impact of drugs and alcohol, warning signs, and how to assist yourself or others with a drug and alcohol problem. The third section combines these areas and assists the audience to generate ideas for handling this interaction.

Become the best version of yourself that you can imagine being…
